RAMBO (Request Analysis & Model Brokering Orchestrator) is the routing layer behind BLACK. You write one brief; RAMBO decides which AI engine should answer it.
Short answer
RAMBO classifies your brief (coding, strategy, market research, live news, a website, a spreadsheet and more), sends it to the best engine for that job, and falls back to the next engine if the first is slow or fails. In Executive Mode it asks up to three engines and merges their answers.
How a brief is routed
- Analyse. RAMBO reads the brief and picks a task type, such as coding, business strategy, market analysis, live research, web lookup or extraction.
- Broker. Each task type has a preferred order of engines. The first engine that is configured gets the brief.
- Hedge. If that engine has not produced its first words within 1.5 seconds, the next engine starts in parallel. The faster one wins and the other is cancelled.
- Fall back. If an engine fails, RAMBO switches to the next one and shows the switch in the console.
- Show the trail. The console's Live Engines panel shows each engine thinking, writing, finishing or being skipped.
Which engine gets which task
| Task | Engine order |
|---|---|
| Coding and debugging | GPT, Claude, Gemini |
| Strategy and architecture | Claude, GPT, Gemini |
| Market analysis and live news | Perplexity, Grok, Gemini, Claude, GPT |
| A website or domain | Perplexity, Claude (with web tools), Grok, Gemini, GPT |
| Attached spreadsheet (Docs Analyst) | Gemini, Claude, GPT |
| Extraction | Gemini, GPT, Claude |
| Summaries | Claude, Gemini, GPT |
| Everything else | Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity |
Modes
- Fast and Smart give quick answers (about 120 words) with key figures, one chart when numbers matter and up to three source links.
- Deep gives a detailed, structured answer.
- Executive runs up to three engines in parallel. Claude writes one synthesis and flags where the engines disagree.

Questions
What does RAMBO stand for?
RAMBO stands for Request Analysis & Model Brokering Orchestrator. It reads each brief, decides what kind of task it is and sends it to the AI engine best suited to answer it.
Can I choose the engine myself?
Yes. Name an engine in your brief, for example 'What does Perplexity think?', and RAMBO sends it to that engine first.
What happens if an engine fails?
RAMBO moves to the next engine in the route. If the first engine has not started answering within 1.5 seconds, the next one starts in parallel and whichever answers first wins.
